The Ordering, Pricing and Construction Process

We have devised a system to make the ordering process as simple and fair as possible, with communication being the key element. Building a customised furniture piece can be quite involved with a lot of consultation between us, suppliers and other services, with expenses incurred along the way which need to be managed.

  • Discuss and Design

    We discuss with you what you want us to build. This can involve your ideas, sketches, photographs and design suggestions along with our expertise in these areas. Once the design and required materials are agreed upon, and a price is discussed, Kestrel Concepts will give you a formal quotation including a dimensioned drawing. The quotation process is free, unless it involves a site visit from us as part of the procedure. Site visit fees are priced individually.

  • Deposit

    Once you accept the quotation and sign the agreement, a $200.00 deposit is required. This deposit secures your place in the queue, as the furniture items are built in order of confirmation. You will be given an estimated time for when construction will commence on your piece. This deposit is non-refundable, as it covers the costs involved with sourcing materials, planning the construction, administration tasks etc.

  • Begin Construction

    We will contact you when your piece is about to begin construction. At this point, a 50% payment, less the $200.00 deposit already paid, is due. Purchase of materials and actual construction cannot proceed without this payment, and a delay in this payment may lead to orders behind yours given priority. Kestrel Concepts will contact you when construction has commenced, and you are welcome to visit the workshop during the construction phase to see your piece.

  • Nearing Completion

    When your item is nearing completion, generally when it is about to go to the paint shop for lacquering, we will contact you to give you a more accurate completion date.

  • Item Completed

    Once your piece is completed, the balance of the payment is due. You will not be able to collect your furniture before the final payment is received.

  • Transport

    Collection and/or transport of the finished piece is negotiated on a case by case basis. You can pick up your item yourself, or for a fee we may be able to deliver your item with your assistance, if the item is not too large and the distance not too great.  Alternatively, we have an established relationship with a reputable nationwide transport company who understand the care required to transport our furniture, and can deliver locally to the Gold Coast and Brisbane, or anywhere in Australia.  We can put you in touch with them, or you can source your own carrier.

    Some items, such as bars or large bookshelves, may need Kestrel Concepts to do some installation on site. The cost of this installation will have been included in the original price, but the cost of transportation of the items to site is not covered. Please note that the customer, and not Kestrel Concepts, takes responsibility for any damage, accidental or otherwise, caused during transit.  It is advisable to consider transit insurance for this stage.
